Today we had a lecture with Tim Rundle, I find him to be a really engaging lecturer. He offered some useful insights into what to do and what not to do in regards to designing our brand books
My main takings were as follows:
Identification of the projects aesthetic language:
Is it visually on message?
Is it verbally on message?
Create words that will identify that message
- headings and subheadings
- Copy and straplines
- Titles and subtitles
- Consumer groups
- Mood hybrids
- Trend names
Come up with own trend names - not from trend sources
Start to lists words which reflect the voice or attitude you want to convey for the brand
*look at instagram pages* eg fashion revolution, girl gang/feminist ones to convey feminist tone
Consumer profiles and pen portraits:
Say something specific
He also shared with us Pinterest, and specifically told us to look at his board which focuses on consumer portraits, I will definitely be using this as a source of inspiration when coming with my own different types of consumers. Tim particularly highlighted the importance on having specific target consumers and creating unique ways to categorise and identify my consumers. I will be sure to think about this when identifying my own target consumer.
